A requested amount, an analytical target and a preferred delivery date describe different parts of a custom project. They should not be compressed into one assumed standard package. Sequence characteristics, modifications and the required material format can affect the work involved. This page explains the terms used to discuss a project without publishing blanket purity, scale or turnaround promises. The actual specification and schedule are confirmed for the particular target.
State what the quantity represents
A weighed sample can include the peptide together with associated counterions, water or other components. Gross sample mass and net peptide content are therefore different concepts. If the amount of peptide itself is important to the project, the intended quantity basis should be clear and any relevant measurement should be identified in the supporting record.
Keep the agreed project scope readable
The useful project summary brings together the target sequence, modifications, quantity basis, analytical requirements and sample format. Each item should mean the same thing to the technical and purchasing readers. A schedule belongs to that defined scope; it should not be inferred from another sequence, another batch or a general headline on the website. The label count is a separate quantity. It should not be used to infer the number of aliquots or the amount of material in each container.
